Children all around the world now face many oral problems and need to go to an orthodontist, now what are orthodontists? An orthodontist is a type of dentist. Using braces, retainers, and other devices, an orthodontist helps straighten a person's teeth and correct the way the jaws line up. Each child’s orthodontic needs are different and the best age to go to an orthodontist is 8. Orthodontists treat kids for many problems, including having crowded or overlapping teeth or having problems with jaw growth and tooth development. These oral problems may be caused by tooth decay, losing baby teeth too soon, accidents, or habits like thumb sucking. These problems also can be genetic or inherited, meaning that they run in a person's family.
Children's jaws and teeth differ from adults so they require different types of treatments. An initial orthodontic assessment at this age allows an orthodontist to plan treatment to start at the optimal stage of their growth and development, which is often around 11 years of age; orthodontist examines kid’s teeth, mouth, and jaws. They also ask patients to open wide or bite their teeth together and might ask questions about whether they have problems chewing or swallowing or whether their jaws ever click or pop when you open your mouth. A beautiful smile is one of the benefits orthodontics has to offer. Bringing teeth, lips and jaws into proper alignment not only produces a great smile, but a healthy one as well.
Straight teeth are easier to clean and maintain and also function better together with properly related jaws. Left untreated, a poor bite and other orthodontic problems can become worse over the years and lead to tooth decay, gum diseases, abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, difficulty in chewing and in some cases, even speech impairment and jaw joint problems. So children need to go to the orthodontists if it is necessary and orthodontists have to do their work with perfection as children are really scared of doctors specially dentists so they need to do their work smoothly.
